At the end of 2015, I offered my readers the chance to answer a very brief survey as a way for me to better understand what types of posts they were enjoying, what they would like to see more of, and if they had any other comments or suggestions that might help me better serve my audience.
I was surprised at how many responses I received! Those of you who took the time to answer the survey – I greatly appreciate the time you took to fill it out. The outcome of the survey has been invaluable to me as a blogger and I wanted to share the results!
I allowed this survey to run through the month of January – just to make sure everyone had a chance to voice their opinion. If for whatever reason, you missed out… well, there’s always the comments! But basically, it was a fairly short survey with questions tailored specifically to give me an idea of what was working for my blog, what wasn’t, what kind of posts I should be focusing on, etc.

I don’t know why this answer surprised me. I guess I still sometimes wonder why anyone would be interested in my personal life because to me, it seems kind of dull. I’m not constantly out and about, living some glorious lifestyle. I’m just little me. But I do greatly appreciate that so many people enjoy my more personal posts and I’ll be doing my best to incorporate as many as I can. I love connecting with my readers – it’s why I’m here.
I laughed when I realized how few people by comparison were enjoying the Home Decor posts. I turned to Jeremy and said “Wow, these people are reading the wrong blog then, I guess.” I’m feeling iffy now about how many home decor posts I do. I don’t want to overwhelm my readers with that stuff if it’s not what you’re wanting to see. But at the same time, I feel like the types of home decor posts I am interested in writing, are personal stories as well. I guess we’ll see. I’m excited about my house, dangit.

I used to focus a lot on Twitter. Since Facebook made it more difficult to get likes and then there’s that whole post algorithm thing… I’ve shied away from it. Since getting these results, I’ve put forth the effort to work on utilizing my Facebook page better.

This was easily my favorite part of my survey. I’m going to share with you three of the wonderful comments you took the time to write to me. I have no idea who wrote these (I kept the survey anonymous), but I wanted you to know how grateful I am to you for them. Sometimes this thing we do feels almost thankless… and these responses really made it all worth it.
“I really enjoy your blog, I found it through another and now I focus more on yours, I appreciate you being honest and straightforward, like you explained why your blog lacked around Thanksgiving, that really helped me bc I understood why there were no posts and not that you just didn’t care that week or whatever.
