I’m really excited about today because not only does it mark the return of one of my favorite weekly blogging prompts, Funko Fridays… I also get to talk about one of my favorite blogging groups and show off one of my newest Funko Pop received in a swap (Let’s be real… I’ve bought at least 3 Funko since the swap happened because I’ve got problems). But before we get into the details of the swap and showing off my new Funko Pop, how about an update on Funko Fridays in general?
You might be wondering why Funko Fridays fizzled out and I’m going to be really honest: It got overwhelming. I have the tendency to try to take on too much and make things bigger and better than they need to be. Every week I was responsible for writing a Funko related blog post, creating a weekly graphic to go along with the theme Pepi and I had chosen, plus setting up a post and link up opportunity over at the Funko Fridays blog. Maybe that doesn’t sound like a lot… but it became too much for me to keep up with around the time we were closing on the house and packing up to move.
A lot is going to change. “On Fridays, we talk Funko” is the new motto. I can see us asking you a question as some sort of prompt, but otherwise there will no longer be an official theme. Consider Funko the theme. I believe that doing this will keep the stress down to a minimum on my end and keep it casual and fun for everyone who participates. Every week, you will still find a link up opportunity on my blog (and Pepi’s too!) and you are welcome to link up so long as your post is Funko related and the banner below is pasted somewhere on your post.
Yup. There’s a brand new button. Isn’t it glorious? It’s 150×150 in size and should fit perfectly anywhere on your post (and in your sidebar too if you should so wish *hint hint*).
The Great Funko Swap
Now, about what you’re actually here for! Pepi (yes, THAT Pepi… co-host of Funko Fridays in all her glory) organized this incredible Funko Swap for some ladies in one of my favorite Facebook groups, Geek Girls x Bloggers which you should totally join because those geeky gals are my bloggy bffs for life.
Everyone was tasked with picking out up to 5 Funko they wanted (this was so much harder than it sounds, trust me) price ranged at $15 or less. I used Amazon to choose mine so that my swap partner could buy it online and have it shipped directly to me – plus it made it easier on them, since they would know exactly which Funko variant I wanted.
Here’s 4 of the Funko from my list…
Okay, now that you’ve seen some of the Funko on my list, I want to talk about why I chose these before I show you the Funko Pop sent to me by my swap partner, Ashlee of Her Geekery.
I have a long list of Funko wants. The problem for me is that I immerse myself in so many fandoms and that means for a Funko collection that’s a little bit (fine… a lot bit) all over the place. I’m either missing or haven’t gotten around to starting different fandom lines in my Funko collection. That means there’s a huge variety of Funko Pop to choose from… too many in fact.
I decided to choose Funko I knew I wouldn’t be purchasing anytime soon because I was busy focusing elsewhere – especially with SDCC Funko coming out soon (July 21st! OMG). And that’s what lead me to this seemingly odd list of random Funko and the super adorable Funko Pop that Ashlee chose to send to me.
My New Funko Pop
Let me start out by saying this: Ashlee is the freaking cutest. She purchased my Funko via Amazon and even had it gift wrapped with a little note. I thought this was so sweet of her and a nice, personal touch. Thank you Ashlee for going the extra mile. It was awesome!
Ha! That should give you a little hint about what Funko Pop Ashlee sent me. Do you have any guesses?
It’s Harley Quinn!
Last year, I fell in love with the complexity of Harley Quinn. It befuddles me (yes, I used that word) how often her relationship with The Joker is presented as some fantastic love story when in fact, she’s in an abusive relationship with a psychopath… not to mention her own deranged mental state. And yet, there’s something sort of beautiful about her because she’s proof that love knows no bounds. She threw it all away to chase after a boy.
I’m so glad Ashlee chose this one to send to me. I’ve got a few Harley Quinn collectibles (not to mention a cat named Harley haha) and I’m excited to grow my collection. Do you collect Harley Quinn Funko?
Check out the blogs of the other ladies who have participated in this Funko Pop Swap and other Funko related posts. Feel free to add yours as well!
