I feel like October 1st was yesterday. Seriously, it just went by in a blink for us. We’ve been so stupid busy and sadly very little of it has anything at all to do with our house. Jeremy has been mostly out of town either up in North Carolina or in Texas. He’s been flying to Texas on Monday mornings and flying back to Charleston on Friday afternoon/evening for the last couple of weeks now. We already despise it. It’s taking a serious toll on us both physically and emotionally. Good thing I didn’t make a lot of October goals.
Break Ground on our House! FAIL. I’m as upset about this as you are (more actually). You may recall that Charleston had pretty bad flooding the first half of October that shut down whole cities. Well, Moncks Corner where we’re building our home was shut down for over a week because of the flooding. That meant the permit office was closed and even once it was open our building permit was put on hold while they shuffled out emergency permitting to fix roads and other things. The good news is that our permit has finally arrived and we’re having our pre-construction meeting next week (I think? I’m already losing track and losing my mind). We break ground soon!
Read a Book. SUCCESS! I read Jeremy’s brother’s book called 50 Brilliantly Smart Tips for Everyday Life and I also did an awesome review and giveaway for it. I really enjoyed it and hopefully y’all did too!
Attend a Wedding. SUCCESS! We definitely did this. I’m still tired from that wedding. A blog post all about it will come soon.
Okay, so at least October while it had very few goals… 2 out of 3 ain’t bad, right? I mean, I can’t control the whole flooding thing. Pfft.
Here’s what else I accomplished this month…
- I bought a selfie stick (seriously) for vlogging.
- I got out of the house and spent time with friends – namely Mandy
- Jeremy and I took our Christmas pictures.
- I got a new job which I started and quit.
Order Christmas Cards – I am actually planning to do this very, very soon. We took our Christmas picture and I have chosen our cards. I’m merely waiting to get as many people’s addresses as I can ahead of time as I plan to have them pre-printed. This year, we’re going to use a company called Minted. They don’t just do holiday cards. I actually found them because of someone else’s gorgeous birth announcements. I can’t wait to use them. Last year I designed the cards myself and while they were cute, they turned out horrible. We used Walgreens for the printing and it was super icky.
Holiday Pictures of the Cats – This is a maybe. Like, if it doesn’t happen, I won’t be too upset. Thing is, I took adorable pictures of Bruce & Oliver last year with pumpkins for the fall. Harley totally got shafted because I didn’t get around to it. Buying Halloween anything seemed pointless after last year when we had no trick-or-treaters. I saw a really nice selection of Christmas costumes for pets when I was at Ross earlier this week (sorry for the crappy picture). I am so wanting these…
Break Ground! – Seriously. I swear we’re breaking ground on the house we’ll be building… if I have to go out with a shovel and dig a hole myself. I know this will happen this month. It’s really all a matter of exactly when.
Thanksgiving with the Family – Jeremy may or may not be working Thanksgiving week. We’re hoping not. I mean for starters, he would be flying to Texas Monday afternoon and leaving Wednesday afternoon so he can be home in time for Thanksgiving. The company he works for would have to pay to fly him there, his hotel and rental car, to feed him… dumb, dumb, dumb. They agree, and they don’t seem real interested in doing that. Regardless of what happens, we’ll somehow manage to go upstate for Thanksgiving time with his family.
I know… another short list. Trust me, I’ll be happy to just accomplish these things. What’s on your goal list for this month?
What Is This?
