Where did the month go? I know February is a slightly shorter month, but it seems like it’s just gone in a blur. I feel like nothing has gotten accomplished between the fact that I took a vacation and then got sick for two weeks. Yes, TWO WEEKS! I still have a slight cough. It’s no wonder I am looking at my blog posts and my traffic and thinking “Wow, I didn’t get much done around here…”
Fortunately, my corner of the internet has! There were so many great posts recently and I wish I could show them all to you. Here’s just a taste of what I have come across this week – some of the posts were so incredibly useful and right on cue for me and my need of reading them.
I’m in need of a new computer. It’s become increasingly difficult to be productive on my now 6 year old Dell. It’s old (seriously, it came with Windows XP on it) and what meager processing speed it has is no longer what it used to be. Since I borrowed Jeremy’s laptop during our vacation, I have decided that a laptop is just the thing I need in my life. I have seen a couple of posts recently about the HP X360 and I think it’s where I am headed. I’ll give credit where it’s due because I saw Chelsea’s post over at Olive & Ivy about her experience with the laptop first.
Now I just really need to get the money together for it. It’s not particularly expensive, but the one I am looking at is still going to be about $500 after taxes. I am just going to slyly slip in here that if you like my blog and want to make it much easier for me to bring you the content you enjoy, you can Sponsor My Blog! *wink*
I’m so excited that my Doctor Who inspired Sonic Solitaire ring finally came in. I have shown it to every person I think will even stop for a moment to look at it. I have even gone around asking people if they watch Doctor Who, purely with the intent of showing them this ring. I um, think I love it!
In case you haven’t filed your taxes yet, you might want to take another look at what you might be able to list as a deduction. Looking at the list of Tax Deductibles you may be overlooking that Amber Kristine has so sweetly written out for us, I might have missed a couple of things myself that I need to look into before I officially file. I know that so many people are getting hit pretty hard this year because you may not have been able to afford the “Affordable” Health Care Act’s premiums and now you owe your “fair share”. Getting in all of the deductions possible will really help you a lot.
I received my first Ipsy Glam Bag. I wouldn’t consider myself much of a makeup blogger, but I do love playing with makeup and styles. I have already incorporated most of the items I received into my daily makeup look. I’m excited to receive fresh and trendy products because even at 29 years old, I often find myself not entirely sure of what is and isn’t trendy (or age appropriate). That’s why I signed up for Ipsy and I’m excited for what my March bag will bring.
I consider my blog to be a business – one of a few business I have had over a span of many years now. I’m proud to say that I have started this blog with a lot of experience of what does and doesn’t work (for me and for my audience). But not everyone does and getting yourself out there can be a real challenge. Once again, Dana over at The Wonder Forest really hits the nail on the head in a post where she talks about the Mistakes she made when starting her business.
I can really relate to this post and I hope you can as well. Are you making or have made any of these mistakes? I know I have.
What is going on for you this week? What awesome posts may I have missed!? Share in the comments.
