In case you’ve forgotten, I chose a word to live by this year: Progress. I chose it with the understanding that I may not always reach my goals, but making them is the first step. As long as I am making progress, I am happy. With that in mind, let’s look at last month’s goals and see where I am.
Take a vacation. NOT YET. I didn’t get to take a vacation in January. There was just too much going on with work between other employees needing time off for birthdays and doctor’s appointments. However, I am taking a vacation the first week of February. Jeremy has taken some time off as well so we can have time together and an opportunity to go see his family.
Blog More. SUCCESS! I had hoped to have a post up every day this month. That didn’t happen, but I am still pretty proud of myself for blogging a lot more – 24 posts this month to be exact. On the plus side, I have also done a pretty good job of utilizing CoSchedule to keep my social media running as well.
Here are some of my favorite posts this month:
- 2015 Sponsorship & Advertisement Opportunities
- 2015 Word of the Year
- Dear Teenaged Self
- So You Think You Have Blackheads? Guess Again!
- The Great Nail Polish Purge
- Bruce & Oliver are 7 Months Old!
- How To Increase Traffic with StumbleUpon
Get my license straightened out. FAIL. This did not happen. I’ve come to realize that my regular life schedule simply will not permit me time needed to get this accomplished. The stars and planets just won’t align for some reason. I think it’s better suited for getting fixed during my vacation time.
Start a Savings Account. NOT EXACTLY. Jeremy and I discussed this. I think we’ve decided to simply use his saving’s account for now instead of the hassle of opening another. We’ll see how much we make use of it and perhaps open a new account together at a later date.
Have a girls day. NOPE. I had plans to schedule a girls day after my most recent paycheck, but unforeseen circumstances made me change my mind. My daughter has medical needs that I would like to see taken care of and I have devoted what would have been my money for girls day to that instead.
Acquire a proper desk. NOPE. This did not happen and maybe it won’t for a while. I did manage to get my picture taking stuff off of my desk in the mean time.
Acquire “dining room” table. NO, BUT… While we did not acquire a dining room table, we did acquire more storage for the apartment. When my best friend moved away, he left to me a large cubbie that he wasn’t taking with him. We’ve filled it with most of our DVDs and ya know… cats.
Photo Lightbox. YES! BUT… Money is super tight. I knew this would probably be the reason I didn’t get a Photo Lightbox this month. I did however find a nice one on eBay that wasn’t too terribly expensive. I ordered it thanks to PayPal’s pay after it arrives option. I should have it soon.
Gym Membership. YES, YES, YES! I’m really proud of myself for not only accomplishing this goal, but for the fact that we have gone to the gym several times since. The first day was really hard but it has gotten a little easier since then. We’re taking things slow and trying to go to the gym a little longer each time. In addition to the hard work at the gym, I have slowed down as much as I can on my food intake – mostly cutting out the stuff I know I don’t need like Cinnabon or Dairy Queen Blizzards. Hush, no judging… I work in a freaking mall!!!
Continue Blogging More! I’d like to keep up with my pace of blogging a few times per week. This is going to be hard, I think, with my upcoming vacation. But I can do this!
Better Myself. There are just things that need to change and things I need to do to make this happen. I hate to be so cryptic about it but if this goal is completed, I won’t have to be cryptic about it any longer.
Gain Profitable Sponsorship. My blog is still a baby, but it’s growing rapidly and I have fairly steady reader engagement. I have always offered sponsorship because I believe if something is a goal, then it should be offered from the very beginning. I’ve paid out a great deal of money (and thanks to going over my taxes recently, I now realize how much… yikes) and it would be nice to see a little of that find its way back into my pocket. Ha!
File my Taxes. I have my taxes figured out, but I’m a little unhappy with the outcome. I simply could not afford the so-called “Affordable Health Care Act” aka “Obamacare” and the government apparently wasn’t real pleased with me for that. I got hit hard and Federal wanted $500 until I managed to knock it down significantly utilizing a lot of itemized business deductions. I still owe them $90. It’s going to be a very tight month financially – especially since I’m taking a week unpaid vacation from work.
Get my license straightened out. Carried over from last month, this just really needs to happen. It’s only a matter of time before Jeremy has to go away for work again and I will end up otherwise stranded because I can’t drive with my license messed up.
That’s it for February’s goals. I realize that’s not a lot compared to months past, but it’s going to be a short month paired with severe lack of funds. I don’t see room for more goals than these. This month is really about relaxing, resetting and finding a direction anyways.
