It’s been a good week overall – some days were certainly better than others. It’s getting very close to time for me to take my first vacation as an adult and I’m pretty excited.
I got my W-2 from work yesterday and went through and did my taxes. I’m not pleased about my taxes because even after counting absolutely everything I could as a business deduction related to my blog and all of my online services rendered this year, I still owe Federal like $90! I mean, that’s chump change to them, I’m sure… but it sure isn’t to me! Why do I owe? Because I don’t have Obamacare.
I like the idea of Obamacare… I just can’t afford it. I can’t believe I am being penalized for something I simply cannot afford. I’m not going to tell you how much I make, but we’ll just say that it’s below the level of poverty. I cannot afford to rent an apartment on my own and I don’t even own a car. The government wanted me to pay $200/mo for health insurance. I don’t have that kind of money… not by far! I guess $90 isn’t a lot compared to the $2,400 I’d have otherwise spent on health insurance. *Sigh*
Awesome Stuff You Might Have Missed!
Rewind with me and check out what has probably been my favorite Loot Crate so far. It included items that are pefect for kids of the 90’s – t-shirt, geeky tie, sunglasses, comic book, etc. I really enjoyed the box and I just know those of you who subscribe to Loot Crate did as well.
I really enjoyed this guest post over at The Grits Blog that teaches you How to Edit Good Photos for Instagram. I’m personally trying a new “Instagram with Intention” thing and editing photos beforehand are becoming an important part of my… I don’t know… Instagramming Regimen if you will. This post shows you how to make your food shots look more appetizing, clean and crisp. The food looks much more fresh in my opinion.
Bruce and Oliver Turned 7 months old. Can you believe it!? Gosh they are growing up so fast – probably to accommodate their huge personalities. The boys received a clean bill of health recently, received all of their shots, even got the snip snip and have been doing wonderfully. Such little troopers!
Also birthday related, Kristyn over at Chits and Giggles just celebrated her 31st Birthday! Happy Birthday Kristyn! I’m loving these posts I am finding about turning 30 not being a big deal or how they are happy to see their 20’s go. As many of you know, I am turning “the big 3-0” this year and I am getting to that scared, but excited stage. Thanks Kristyn for sharing your birthday with us. I hope it was as awesome as that cake looks! Yum!
About a month ago, I participated in an experiment regarding StumbleUpon and I wanted to pass on the great things I learned about it, like How to increase your blog’s traffic with StumbleUpon. This posts has pictures to help guide you a bit, provides explanation of what you can do and even gives you some good Do’s and Do Nots.
This year, I chose Progress as my word of the year to live by. That’s why I really like this Because of Jackie Post that tells you How to be Successful at Just About Anything. Spoiler: It’s basically about taking baby steps. I like that a lot – it really hits home for me right now and I am trying to accomplish little goals for going towards a bigger picture this year.
So what awesome things did you miss this week!?
