I wasn’t kidding when I told y’all that things would get CRAZY the closer we got to the holidays. Sadly, I even started writing this post um… almost 2 weeks in hopes of scheduling it to post itself for a Wednesday Wrap Up but, um, yeah… that clearly didn’t happen.
So what’s been going on? I have been busy with work and most recently, very sick! I feel like I get sick at the worst time every year. But when I haven’t been working or sleeping off the ickies, here’s what I’ve been up to…
Washer & Dryer
Jeremy and I just purchased our very first Washer & Dryer set. I haven’t had a set of my own in, um… well a really long time. I’ve certainly never had a set this nice.
Jeremy went to our local hhgregg on Saturday the 15th and he purchased this beautiful Samsung washer and dryer. The delivery truck had already gone out that day, so they weren’t able to deliver them same day. Unfortunately, the days we have off made kind of a mess of things: No one would be home Monday or Tuesday as we both work. I’m off on Wednesdays normally, but they don’t do deliveries that day. Thursday we were expecting to both be at work all day, so Friday would be the next day available to us.
Somehow, this meant that I wouldn’t get a washing machine. Somehow, this meant that since we didn’t have ours delivered immediately, it would become back ordered. And that sucks majorly. So we have this kick-ass dryer (which totally plays music, makes cute dings and other adorable noises when you tell it to do things) and no washer.
I hand washed our clothes for 2 weeks. Oh yes, you read that correctly. I hand washed everything in our respective tubs for 2 weeks despite being so busy and so sick. Why? Because damnit, it’s the principle of it all! I was so hyped up about this washer & dryer set and I couldn’t see spending $3 per load to get my clothes washed and dried; nor could I see myself dragging wet clothes home from our apartment laundry room to dry them in my new dryer.
My washer arrived today! I am so absolutely freaking jazzed. As I type this, I am washing our sheets. I’m in love and so happy to have this set. I’m determined to wash everything in the apartment.
Mo Money Mo Problems?
Speaking of purchases…
We have spent SO much money lately. Believe me, I’m not bragging. I’m totally freaked out about the whole thing. I keep mentioning to Jeremy that we’ve spent what I consider to be a lot of money lately. I am wildly aware of how much the washer & dryer set cost, how much the camera from my wish list was, the cost of his PS4 and the WiiU he bought his youngest brother for Christmas. And then there’s the gifts I don’t know of yet as well as the costs of our Thanksgiving meal and regular food and normal bills. Geez. I am freaking out.
It’s all his money. He got a Christmas bonus that basically amounted to about half what I make in a year. You read that correctly. So it’s not like the money isn’t there. It’s not like we’ve spent it foolishly. He’s paying off some things so we will have a little extra every month in addition to the raise he will start to receive in January. But geez it freaks me out. I don’t spend money like this. I don’t have this kind of money.
Note: I am very proud of him and his career. He earns every penny of that money. But it sometimes rubs my ego a little bit raw.
What a joke. I can’t believe I sincerely believed that I would get awesome pictures of our cats Bruce & Oliver that I could use on our Christmas cards this year. Well, I may yet get better pictures but it certainly will not be of them in cute Santa outfits or pajamas. Nope. Isn’t going to happen, because this is the best I got. Seriously, the only salvageable picture of like, 50.
I’m guessing that instead, I will have to do something similar like what I did when I took pictures of them in the fall and utilize cute bow ties (which was my oriinal plan anyway until I saw those ridiculous Christmas pet costumes at Target).
The Game Table
We finally got rid of the game table. Considering how many people contacted me about it, I sure had a hard time actually get someone to come pick it up.
A friend of mine was on the road to our apartment and got into a terrible accident, totaling her car and breaking several ribs. I feel horrible about it because I pressured her to come pick it up during my day off. She didn’t come get it (obviously) so I ended up giving it to someone else. So I feel rotten about that.
Still really, really glad the table is gone. My Christmas tree is up (not yet decorated) in its place. I’m scared to decorate it… the cats won’t leave it alone.
