Hooray! My second Loot Crate ever arrived and I was super excited to open it. But for those who are just like “What the heck is a Loot Crate?” Here’s an explanation…
Essentially, it’s a geek/gamer subscription service. Every month, Loot Crate has a theme and for about $20 USD (that includes the shipping!) they send you a box full of geeky gifts from t-shirts to themed comics, collectible figurines, books and more. For your $20, you get at least $40 worth of “gear”, if not much more.
November’s Theme: Battle!
I wouldn’t say that I am disappointed in this month’s box. There’s some pretty cool stuff in it – especially if you were born before 1990. A lot of really great gamer throwback collectibles. Unfortunately, I had a little trouble with my box this month, including receiving a broken item. Bummer. Had to happen to someone I suppose and I put it right back together so I guess no harm, no foul.
However, the t-shirt (which is the biggest item in my mind and what makes the box worth it) isn’t printed quite right. It looks like the machine used to mass print the shirts may have malfunctioned. It isn’t a huge issue but once I noticed it… I kind of can’t stop noticing it. I’m considering reporting it to Loot Crate so I can get a new one issued to me.
So what’s in this month’s box? If you don’t want it spoiled for you then I suggest you stop reading because there are also some pictures to follow!
Ninjas vs Pirates T-Shirt
I’m a bit dee dee dee apparently because when I pulled it out of the box, I didn’t understand. I thought for a moment that they had made some sort of mistake. In my mind, this would be a heavy Megaman or otherwise Ninteno-esque themed box and so, I expected a Megaman shirt. Imagine my surprise (and confusion) when I pulled this out of the box.
Yeah. Exactly. I literally paused and said “Wait. What? I don’t get it. What is this?” Again, I’m apparently slow and the pop culture reference of Ninjas vs Pirates didn’t come to mind. Once I understood it… coolest t-shirt ever.
The two characters are actually made of different words that make up each one. For example, the more awesome side of the shirt, the Ninja… has words like Honor, Invisible Assassins, Martial Arts, Japan, etc. Really cool. And like last month’s Loot Crate t-shirt… soft and comfortable!
Megaman Mini Helmet Replica with Base
A great collectible – again, nice gamer throwback. Each Looter received 1 of 4 possible colors: Mega Man Blue Mega Buster, Mega Man Grey Bubble Lead, Mega Man Green Leaf Shield (the one I got), or Mega Man Red Rush.
Unfortunately, mine arrived broken. The small, center piece of the helmet was free floating in the box. I was able to just snap it back in place so I guess that’s no big deal.
However, I also had a really hard time getting the helmet to attach to the stand which is supposed to fit snuggly into a round cutout on the inside of the helmet. I thought maybe it was just me or that I was sucking at it until I saw some looters unboxing on YouTube who had the same problem. Mine did not fit and it got to the point where I was afraid I would break my stand as it turned and flexed with the force of me trying to put it together. I ended up having to sand down the edges of the “male end” of the stand in order to make it fit.
Mega Bloks HALO Figurine (Purple)
I’m not a HALO player but this seems pretty cool. It’s a small figurine which comes in some sort of pod that you can store it in. The neat part is that the figure actually attaches to a Lego – so you can totally stick the little guy into your fun, Lego creations!
It looks like there are a few versions you could get instead of the metallic purple I received. They all look pretty cool. I have no idea what they actually are – again, not a HALO player! But I can dig it.
Assassin’s Creed Pouch With…
Wait. Is this? Is it what I think it is!? Is this a SLAMMER!? I mean, maybe it’s just a coin or something but seriously, as soon as I saw this… I thought of Pogs (some of you may call them milkcaps). The slammer was the big, heavy coin-like piece you would throw down on top of pogs. It’s a slammer, right? TELL ME IT’S A SLAMMER.
I don’t play Assassin’s Creed but seriously, this made me mourn the loss of my pog collection. Hmm, I wonder whatever happened to them. Pogs need to make a comeback.
Street Fighter Head-danna
This one actually made me laugh a bit. It’s one of those long strips of fabric meant to be worn around your head. It’s red and has the Street Fighter logo on it. I don’t know what else to call them but a Head-danna. Oh well. “The answer lies in the heart of battle.” – Street Fighter IV Series
