It’s been a week since I got my first tattoo. I didn’t realize just how tired the healing process would make me. Sometimes, I forget how even seemingly minor things can affect me in a big way. I wish I had better prepared for it and scheduled some blog posts. Forgive me here… I’m still learning how to blog on some sort of a schedule!
Unfortunately, I didn’t do a whole lot of interesting during the time I wasn’t here – mostly work and sleep. I took a picture of my tattoo every day and posted it to Instagram but otherwise didn’t really get too involved with social media. And for serious… I have painted my nails only ONCE this week, which is like… a really huge deal. I’ve been that tired after work.
Pair all of that with the fact that Jeremy got home from his work retreat thing on Saturday evening and well… you get the point!
So about that tattoo…
It’s finally sinking in that this is permanent. Not that I didn’t realize that before I got it. I guess you never really fully understand the scope of what you’re doing until it’s done sometimes. No, I don’t regret it at all. But I’ve had to explain what my tattoo is and the reason behind it a few too many times this week because it’s been passed along around where I work that I got a tattoo. I knew I would be explaining the Tinkerbell for the rest of my life, but it just didn’t click with me that my heart would sting as much as getting the tattoo… every. single. time.
It’s healing nicely. It scabbed over on day 4 and 5. Yesterday, it started to peel a bit – sort of like a sunburn. It doesn’t hurt – not even when I’m applying lotion (lots and lots of lotion). I don’t think it’s hurt for a couple of days. Everyone keeps telling me it’s going to itch badly but that hasn’t started yet. I’m not looking forward to it.
So here’s a close up of the fresh tattoo VS today. You can definitely see where the skin is flaking and peeling off right now (sorry if that’s gross). The skin has calmed down and it isn’t super pink like it was after getting the tattoo (now you can see just how crazy pale my legs really are).
It looks fuzzy because of the scabbing and peeling. Eventually, it’ll look a lot more like the original – minus the blotchies and redness.
Work & The Holidays
I think it’s interesting that a lot of bloggers I follow are suggesting that now is “blogging season” – that they do most of their blogging the time of year. Seriously? I can’t keep up with that sort of pace and I am not even going to try. I have a full time, retail job. Black Friday? Yeah, I work that. The day before and after Christmas? Yeah, I work that too. New Years Eve and New Years Day? Well, you get the point.
This coming week, my work schedule will start to change in order to accommodate what we need in order to get through the holidays. Shopping season seems to start earlier every year (like I seriously was showing watches to people yesterday who specified that they were Christmas shopping). Soooo yeah. Things are about to get crazy and I have a feeling I will be spending my days off writing a lot of scheduled posts just to keep up!
But first, we gotta get through Halloween!
I was a kitty last year for Halloween – very last minute, Hot Topic shopping saved the day. I was sooo planning ahead this year! Last month, I found this adorable Plus-Sized Bat costume that I just had to have. It was $49.00 at the time. But I knew I had a tattoo to save for and as far I as I knew, I was probably spending like $400 on it. Well, I didn’t… I spent half that. I went to purchase the bat costume last week and it skyrocketed in price to $79.00! That doesn’t even include shipping or the fact that I would need to still buy leggings and some shoes to go with it. I have the money, but no… I am not spending what will amount to over $100 for a Halloween costume.
I’m seriously considering dressing up as Meg Griffin from Family Guy this year. I’ve talked about doing that for over 5 years now and never have. Now I just have to find a pink t-shirt and beanie that match!
So what are you going to be for Halloween this year?
