Where did my wittle kitties go? We have had Bruce and Oliver for a month now. Seriously… one month. They are now 3 months old and I cannot believe how quickly they have grown and how much their personalities have changed.
For starters, I can tell the boys apart. Oh sure, I have to actually stop and look for a moment but they do have some very distinct differences now that they didn’t… even just a couple of weeks ago.
Bruce appears chubby compared to his brother. He’s not… he just has a very different build. He’s much more orange in color and his fur is a bit softer. He has a wider face, and only 2 rings on his tail.
Oliver is slimmer in appearance. He has a lot of white mixed into his fur – particularly on his back. He has a thinner face and a more wide-eyed look. He has 3 rings on his tail.
We’ve not yet discovered who is the more dominant cat. When Bruce and Oliver first came home with us, it was Bruce who was the quick to explore one. He left the carrier first, ran around the house first, was the first to do many things while Oliver followed behind him hesitantly. In the last couple of weeks, Bruce has slowed down a bit. He’s suddenly very affectionate and loves being Mommy’s cuddle baby. Oliver is less cooperative. He gets into trouble more often than his brother and instigates a lot of their little wrestle matches. He was once very cuddly but now doesn’t like being held very much. He will allow it – on his own terms.
Both boys like piling on Daddy – especially while he’s playing video games. They have taken to sleeping with us at night – either between us or above my pillow. They snuggle each other and despite how often they wrestle and bite at one another in what I assume is “play”, they seem to genuinely love each other very much. They still try to do practically everything together. One will whine while the other uses the litter box because how dare one poop since both can no longer fit in the litter box together. We may have to get them a second water dish. They each have their own food bowls but share the water. This wasn’t a problem and they used to drink from it together. Now, their heads are too big and they bat at one another, trying to push each other’s faces out of the bowl. “Mooooooooom… he’s drinking all of the waaaater!”
